Circular pallet provider The Pallet LOOP has promoted Andy Williamson to Managing Director as it scales its operations across the UK construction sector. The appointment comes at a critical time for the business as it seeks to increase the use and return of its reusable timber pallets through material manufacturers, contractors, and supply chain partners.
Williamson steps into the role following a series of senior positions within The Pallet LOOP, most recently serving as Commercial Director. He joined the company in early 2024, bringing extensive experience from roles at SIG PLC, IKO Group, and various construction trade bodies.
Industry Veteran to Lead Reuse and Waste Reduction Strategy
The Pallet LOOP operates a closed-loop pallet recovery system aimed at reducing timber waste in construction. Its green-branded pallets are currently in use by major building materials suppliers including British Gypsum, Isover, Wienerberger, and Superglass. The system incentivises contractors, housebuilders, and builders’ merchants to return pallets via a PayBack scheme, offering up to £4 per pallet collected and returned to LOOP’s network of UK-wide collection hubs.
Scaling Pallet Recovery Across the UK Construction Sector
As Managing Director, Williamson will oversee the expansion of The Pallet LOOP’s collection infrastructure and lead engagement with manufacturers, distributors, and principal contractors to increase return volumes and embed reuse within construction logistics.
The company’s model supports broader industry goals around waste reduction, embodied carbon savings, and circular supply chain practices by diverting single-use pallets from landfill or incineration.
Timber Pallet Waste: A Persistent Supply Chain Challenge
The UK construction sector uses an estimated 18 million single-use pallets annually, contributing significantly to site waste. The Pallet LOOP’s approach replaces this with a returnable pallet system built to be reused multiple times, improving resource efficiency and reducing demand for virgin timber.
