Deanta opens £15m Ely facility to support next phase of growth

Deanta UK has formally opened its new £15m flagship facility in Cambridgeshire, marking a significant investment in the company’s next phase of growth.

The new site at Lancaster Way, Ely, sits alongside Deanta’s existing premises and effectively brings the business together under one roof. Design, research and development, operations and distribution will now be based around the expanded site, while the existing building has been repurposed to accommodate manufacturing operations previously located at Pymoor, near Ely.

For a business supplying doors, associated joinery, hardware and specialist doorsets to builders’ merchants and door shops across the UK, the move is as much about integration as it is about scale. By consolidating its operations, Deanta is aiming to improve efficiency, strengthen collaboration across teams and create room for further expansion.

The facility was officially opened at a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Charlotte Cane, MP for the local constituency.

“The building is really a testament to the commitment and hard work of all our staff over the years,” said Mike O’Toole, Managing Director of Deanta UK.

“We’re investing in our business and our workforce – adding in a gym and leisure facilities to reward our staff and giving us the room we need to continue to grow, service and add value to our customers.”

The investment is also expected to provide a boost to local employment. Deanta says the new facility will create 150 skilled roles over the next three years, spanning manufacturing, logistics, sales, technical and support functions.

Research and development will form a central part of the enlarged operation. A dedicated R&D centre is planned as the next phase of development and will be built progressively over the next three years. The centre will include three specialist areas: fire research, acoustic testing and research, and hardware cycle testing and design. Each will be led by technical experts, reflecting the growing importance of tested performance, compliance and product assurance in the doorset and joinery supply chain.

The site will also include a customer showroom and training facility, giving clients the opportunity to view product developments first-hand. The space will support staff training as well as training programmes for Deanta and Precision customers across the UK.

With manufacturing, R&D, distribution, training and customer engagement now centred around the Ely site, Deanta has given itself a stronger platform to support product development and respond to rising expectations around tested, performance-led joinery products.
