With more than one million green LOOP pallets due to arrive in the sector over the next year, the construction industry is being encouraged to sign up for The Pallet LOOP’s nationwide pallet collection service. A solution to a long-standing problem
• Pallets are essential for moving materials – but their disposal is problematic
• Every year around 20 million pallets are manufactured for UK construction
• That’s roughly 600,000 cubic metres of sawn timber used per annum, just for pallets
• Estimates suggest less than 10% of pallets are currently recovered and reused
• 90% of pallets getting used just once equates to around 300,000 tonnes of waste.
