The redevelopment of the former Shawbridge Arcade in Pollokshaws, Glasgow, is progressing rapidly, with the project on track to deliver 75 mid-market rental homes by spring 2026.
The £15.7 million development, led by Wheatley Group and managed by Lowther upon completion, is being constructed by CCG (Scotland). Work began on-site in May 2024, marking a significant step in the wider regeneration of Pollokshaws, one of Glasgow’s designated Transformational Regeneration Areas (TRAs).
Once completed, the site will offer a mix of one and two-bedroom apartments. So far, the project has created four job opportunities and two trade apprenticeships with CCG, and it will support up to 13 work placements for students and unemployed individuals throughout the construction process.
CCG has also engaged with local schools and colleges, running curriculum support initiatives with Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) and local high schools, as well as a career-focused event at City of Glasgow College.
A key feature of the project is the use of CCG’s offsite construction methods, recognised as a sustainable approach that allows for a “faster speed of build and delivers enhanced energy performance.”

The development is being funded with more than £11 million from Glasgow City Council’s Affordable Housing Supply Programme budget.
