Timber trade converges on Bristol for annual WTTA dinner

The city of Bristol was awash with timber traders last Friday for the Western Area Timber Trades Association (WTTA) annual dinner, which also saw TV sports presenter Jason Mohammad provide lively entertainment.

Around 180 guests convened on the Bristol Hotel for the event, with attendees hearing WTTA chairman Andrew Hodge make an address and funds being raised for the Timber Trades Benevolent Society (TTBS).

Mr Hodge promoted the work and events of the WTTA, saying the association provided a vehicle to meet together and network. He said the summer BBQ in Bath, scheduled for July 4, was a great and fun event in a beautiful location, encouraging members to put it in their diaries.

“The executive committee and I encourage all our members and potential new members to come and get involved to get the full value of membership,” he said.

Tony Shelton, TTBS president, highlighted a new TTBS website launching on February 16.

“We’re actively looking for patrons who would be willing to link websites and help support the society, raise awareness and funding for our current and future beneficiaries,” said Mr Shelton.

“If there’s a chance that you could help promote the new site and perhaps have knowledge of business’s that might be interested, then that would work extremely well for us.”

The TTBS raffle raised £1,425 and the auction £1,000, while guest speaker Jason Muhammad, who hosts the programme Final Score entertained guests with stories from the world of entertainment and sport.
