Hardwood businesses around the world are invited to explore the disruptions to the European and US hardwood markets in a free online webinar on 11 November, 14:00 to 16:00 (GMT).
The UK Timber Trade Federation is hosting the ‘TTF Hardwood Market Webinar’, to deliver an annual hardwood market update online.
European production has been impacted due to the pandemic, even as demand for timber products has risen dramatically with people under lockdown across the continent embracing DIY renovations.
Challenges for the US market, in addition to Covid-19, include wildfires in California, an upcoming US election, and the continuing ‘trade-war’ with China, the US hardwood sector’s largest export market.
Attendees to the event will gain insight on:
- The state of the market across North America and Europe.
- The impact of Covid-19 on the timber market across the globe.
- The outlook for 2021 in the hardwood sector.
- Projections on the recovery of supply to pre-pandemic levels.
Speakers include Michael Snow, the Executive Director of the American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC), and Maria Kiefer-Polz, Vice President for Hardwood of the European Organisation of the Sawmill Industry, as they present an update on these issues and more.
David Hopkins, chief executive of the UK Timber Trade Federation, says:
“This webinar will provide the context needed to understand the impact of these factors on trade, how timber companies in the UK and around the world are recovering from these market shocks, and what they should expect next year.”
