Leading timber importer and processor Arbor Forest Products is celebrating its Arborscan sawmill planing line, the first of its kind in the UK.
Arborscan uses unique timber scanning technology, taking 500 photos of each piece of timber to identify defects, and then x-cut them out. The technology-led process is the ideal solution for both reducing waste and saving money for customers, with more useable timber lengths in each delivery.
Arborscan processes timber at up to 200 metres per minute, with each piece of timber scanned as it runs through the line. The unique technology can identify defects such as splits and knot holes in each length of timber, and these are x-cut out as soon as they have been identified. The launch of Arborscan was part of a £12 million investment by Arbor Forest Products into its facilities.
