Arnold Laver has launched a series of concise online workshops that aim to highlight the critical role fire doors play in protecting property. The webinars, which begin on 21 September and coincide with Fire Door Safety Week 2020, will help inform and advise. Providing attendees with the latest industry insight and legislation in a digestible and interactive format.
David Oldfield, Director of Joinery at Arnold Laver and Chairman of the Fire Door Alliance Scheme, said: “Statistics suggest more than 75 percent of existing fire doors are not fit for purpose. By hosting these webinars and encouraging communication and discussion in the industry, we hope to help tackle this issue.”
Delivered by leading bodies and suppliers including Arnold Laver, Lorient, dormakaba, Pyroguard, and Fire Door Inspect, the events, which each last for 30 minutes, are CPD accredited and free to join. They will cover compliance, certifications, design, specification, procurement, liability, and much more.
Each year during Fire Door Safety Week, Arnold Laver hosts an event which brings together a number of interested parties. But this online format, which has been adopted due to COVID-19, means there is no need for a physical meeting. As a result of the savings made, Arnold Laver will donate £10 to the housing charity, Shelter, for every attendee.
Launched in 2013 in response to a legacy of fire door neglect, Fire Door Safety Week is a ‘mass market’ awareness campaign to increase public understanding of the vital role that fire doors play in protecting life and property. The campaign is supported by a number of partners, including the Home Office’s National Fire Safety campaign, the National Fire Chief’s Council and London Fire Brigade.
