Keepmoat partners with The Pallet LOOP to support pallet reuse across its sites

The Pallet LOOP has welcomed top 10 housebuilder, Keepmoat, as its latest housebuilding partner, as both businesses work together to reduce pallet waste and support greater reuse across the construction supply chain.

Keepmoat is a leading UK partnership homebuilder, delivering high quality new homes and communities across the country. Working with local authorities, Homes England, registered providers and landowners, the business plays a key role in transforming sites into thriving neighbourhoods and delivering affordable, multi-tenure homes in the places where they are needed most.

Through its partnership with The Pallet LOOP, Keepmoat will support the wider adoption of reusable green LOOP pallets across its 79 live sites, helping to keep valuable timber in use for longer and reduce the number of pallets ending up in skips.

Pallets play an important role in the construction supply chain, with around 20 million produced for UK construction every year. However, many are still treated as single use items, despite the timber, cost and waste involved.

The Pallet LOOP is designed to change this by encouraging manufacturers and suppliers to use higher quality green LOOP pallets that can be collected, repaired and reused. To support returns, The Pallet LOOP will pay Keepmoat between £2 and £4 for every green LOOP pallet collected, depending on its condition.

Keepmoat has adopted the initiative as part of its wider commitment to reducing waste through its Sustainability Strategy. The partnership will help improve site efficiency, reduce disposal costs and support a more circular approach to construction materials.

John Bowden, Sustainability Director at Keepmoat, said: “At Keepmoat, reducing waste across our sites is an important part of our sustainability strategy, and pallet reuse is a practical way we can make a real difference.

“By working with The Pallet LOOP, we can help keep valuable timber in use for longer, reduce the number of pallets going into skips and support a more circular approach across our supply chain. It is an initiative that delivers clear environmental benefits while also helping to improve site efficiency and reduce disposal costs.”

Ian Broad, Sales Director at The Pallet LOOP, said: “It’s fantastic to have Keepmoat on board and actively supporting pallet reuse across its sites.

“Construction pallets have too often been seen as single use items, but through The Pallet LOOP, we’re helping businesses keep valuable timber in use for longer, reduce site waste and unlock PayBack for every green LOOP pallet returned.

“Keepmoat’s commitment is a great example of how housebuilders can work with their supply chains to drive positive change and support a more circular approach to construction.”

With British Gypsum, Isover, Superglass, Wienerberger, CEMEX and Gyproc already using the LOOP system, The Pallet LOOP is continuing to increase the number of reusable green pallets in circulation and help the construction industry move away from avoidable pallet waste.
