Across the UK and Irish structural timber sector, manufacturers are expected to produce more than ever before, often to meet quicker deliveries. Harry Sadler, Service Manager for Hundegger UK explains why machine reliability is critical.
Whether supplying roof trusses, timber frames, offsite components or engineered timber solutions, it is vital to maintain consistent production. The cost of downtime extends far beyond a machine standing idle. It can affect production schedules, delivery commitments and ultimately customer satisfaction. As output demands continue to grow, effective service support is becoming just as important as the machinery itself.
As a machinery supplier supporting more than 200 machines throughout the UK and Ireland, Hundegger UK sees first-hand the pressures manufacturers face in maintaining productivity while meeting demanding project timelines. Our focus is not simply on reacting to breakdowns, but on helping customers maximise uptime through preventative maintenance, customer training and ongoing technical support.
Supported by five service engineers covering the UK and Ireland, our team is focused on delivering a rapid response to minimise downtime. While every situation is different, we regularly achieve same-day or next-day onsite attendance for critical issues. A dedicated UK technical support hotline provides direct access to expertise covering software, technical support, spare parts and customer training through a single point of contact. Investment in support infrastructure remains a key priority. With approximately £500,000 of spare parts held within our UK warehouse and remote diagnostic capability available on networked machines, many issues can be identified and resolved quickly, helping to minimise disruption to production.
Behind the scenes, our state-of-the-art CRM and ERP systems enable us to manage customer requirements efficiently by bringing together service history, machine information, parts management and scheduling. Combined with engineer feedback, this data helps drive continuous improvement across our service operation. In an industry where uptime drives profitability, service is no longer simply a maintenance function. It is a strategic partnership that helps manufacturers maximise productivity, protect their investment and deliver with confidence.
