Timber frame and truss specialist Bartram Manufacturing has committed more than £500,000 to upgrading its production capabilities with the installation of new Hundegger technology.
Based in Sandy, Bedfordshire, the manufacturer, also a producer of engineered floor joists, has invested in two Hundegger Turbo Drive cutting machines.
The new equipment will support Bartram’s continued business growth, enabling greater control over timber consumption and more efficient processing of engineered timber products supplied to builders throughout the region.
In a coincidental turn of events, managing director James Bartram was the first industry contact made by Hundegger UK’s Chris Osborne when he joined the company 12 years ago.
“James is amused by that fact and pleased to have finally made the decision after years of careful consideration and after seeing nearly 200 Hundegger machines now operating across the UK and Ireland helped his confidence,” said Mr Osborne.
One of the Hundegger Turbo Drive machines will be used exclusively for the production of truss and timber-frame components, while the second, featuring an extended bed, will handle Kerto LVL and I-Joists.
The investment will also assist Bartram in managing its annual multimillion-pound expenditure on raw materials, while providing the additional capacity required to support rising demand.
Installation of both machines is scheduled for completion by the end of the second half of 2026.
